By bike, Robin and me went to school this morning. It was the first time, because we had got the bikes yesterday. Taking the bike is much faster than going by bus! At school we had a short briefing with our teachers about the afternoon. Then we went to our classroom for the official English lessons at Eurocenters. We talked about culture and tourism first and then the teachers changed their classes, so Mr Tendayi taught us for the rest of the day. With him we prepared to record a simulated radio show. It was a lot of fun to do that. At the end of the lesson we recorded it on a cassette. At lunchtime we had lunch in the cafeteria. The meals were quite good, unlike what everyone had told us, namely that British food is awful. We stayed there till two o’clock. Then we had a short discussion of the rally through Cambridge yesterday with Mrs Fischer. She reminded us also of our project work that we now have to start.
We then met at five at the entrance of King’s College. This evenin g they performed the evensong in the chapel. Some young students of the college sang and the ministers prayed. I was a bit disappointed because I had imagined that this evensong would be more emotional. It was quite serious.
After this event, Laurie and I went to Café Uno. On the way to this restaurant, we saw very nice parts of Cambridge. I think our impression of Cambridge changed a bit today. First it was like a labyrinth to us and also a very busy city. Maybe this view will change as well tomorrow when we go punting on the river.
