It was our first day in Cambridge!

In the morning we went to school. It’s in (the middle of) the centre of Cambridge. The traffic is terrible and you had to wait at every traffic light. At the school, they split us into groups for the lessons. Our teacher is called Helen, and she told us much about life in Great Britain. So were learned much about the difference between Northern Ireland, Wales, England and Scotland. It was interesting to hear that in Wales you can find the longest place name in the world: Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. But I have no idea how you can pronounce it. There are many differences between the four parts of Great Britain, but one thing they have in common: they all love football.
In the break we got our bicycles.

At 13.00 h we had our lunch break. The food in the cafeteria is not so good, but when you are hungry you eat everything. The English food is a bit too bland and greasy for me.

In the afternoon we made a rally through Cambridge. The starting point was at Market Square but we got lost and strayed around in Cambridge. Fortunately the people were very friendly and showed us the way to Market Square. It was very difficult to drive on the left side. All the cars and the buses drive past and very fast.

During the rally we saw many interesting buildings and amazing views over the river Cam and the bridges. For exemple we saw the Mathematical Bridge, the Eagles Pub, Kings College and Trinity College. Furthermore we had to answer questions on a paper.

As a conclusion you can say that it was a very exciting day. We learned much about Great Britain and we saw many beautiful places of Cambridge. I hope that the next days will be as interesting as this one.

  1. Driving on the left side is difficult at the beginning, but you'll get used to it. Traffic can be pretty dangerous in England. One have to be carefully at the traffic lights: Do never cross the road when the traffic light is red! British car drivers tend to accelerate when they see a pedestrian...
